Configuring and using a custom SMS Sender ID

How to configure default settings and send using a custom SMS Sender ID in GoFax

Once your SMS Sender ID is requested and approved in a 'Ready to Use' status, you can proceed to configure your settings. 

Configure the default Sender ID for email to SMS senders

You can proceed to configure a Sender ID for each 'Allowed Sender for SMS'. 

  1. Log in to your GoFax account.
  2. On the left navigation, select "Send SMS Service".
  3. Under this menu, select "Manage SMS Settings".
  4. Click on 'Allowed Senders for SMS'
  5. Under "Add allowed sender for Email-to-SMS", proceed to choose the 'SMS Reply Options'
  6. Enter the 'Authorised Email Address'
  7. Select from the drop-down options under 'Choose approved Sender ID'
  8. Click 'Add New Sender'.
  9. Proceed to send SMS via email. 

💡All ACMA-registered and 'Ready to Use' Sender IDs will need to be added as a new email-to-SMS sender.  Please delete the existing sender and re-add using the approved Sender ID.

✏️ For any changes to existing 'Allowed Senders' configured, you will need to 'Delete' and proceed to 'Add New Sender'. 

Configure the default Sender ID for online senders

  1. Log in to your GoFax account.
  2. On the left navigation, select "Send SMS Service".
  3. Under this menu, select "Sender IDs".
  4. Proceed to 'Set Default'. This will be the default Sender ID used for your account for all online senders. 
  5. Proceed to send SMS online. 

💡The default Sender ID will be pre-selected when sending SMS online for bulk SMS, Send SMS using your address book or Send SMS using a mail merge CSV. 

Using the default Sender ID for API senders

If you are sending SMS with the API, ensure that the Sender ID has been approved and 'Ready to Use'. Enter the approved Sender ID in the From parameter of your API request. 

Removing SMS Sender IDs

  1. Log in to your GoFax account.
  2. On the left navigation, select "Send SMS Service".
  3. Under this menu, select "Sender IDs".
  4. Select 'Cancel' to delete any Sender IDs no longer required. 

🚨Alphanumeric Sender IDs in a 'Ready to Use' status are registered via the ACMA.  Deleting a registered Sender ID will revoke this Sender ID on the ACMA Sender ID Register. You will no longer be able to send from your GoFax account using this Sender ID. Registration in GoFax via the ACMA will be required again to use this Sender ID.
