Manage send settings

GoFax provides a comprehensive feature set, to support you in your fax sending requirements. You can configure various fax send settings on your GoFax account. Unless specifically mentioned otherwise, each of these configuration options is available to you at no additional charge.

Accessing send settings

  1. Go to the left main menu (Dashboard
  2. Select "Send Fax Service", then select "Manage Send Settings"
  3. Under the "Send Settings" menu select "General Send Fax Settings"

To apply any of the settings described below, you will need to click "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the list of options.

Set maximum page rate

Various destination fax numbers combined with other settings such as High Resolution or Data Sovereignty can increase your per-page fax rate. To limit per page costs/send credits used, you can specify a maximum page rate for all faxes sent on your account. There is no maximum page rate set by default.

Please note: Setting a "maximum page rate" will block any fax with a page rate calculated higher than the nominated maximum. You can modify this setting at any time.

Add recipient's fax number to fax header

You have the option to add the destination number of each sent fax to the header of each fax sent. This is switched OFF by default.

Please note: Including the destination number is a legal requirement of the Australian Communications and Media Authority when sending marketing faxes. See fax marketing compliance.

Reply to fax sender on fax send failure

You have to option to receive an email notification on failure of each fax send transmission attempted. When activated, GoFax will send an email to the authorised sender’s email address once it has attempted to place a fax call to the destination number three times and a "failure" status is received as a final result. See fax send status codes. This is switched ON by default.

Reply to fax sender on send fax success

You have to option to receive an email notification on successful delivery of each fax send transmission attempted. When activated, GoFax will send an email to the authorised sender’s email address once the fax transmission has been "successfully sent". See fax send status codes. This is switched ON by default

Insert email subject line to delivery notifications

When you send a fax document to GoFax via email, the subject line is not included in the fax. However, you have the option to include the subject line in the emailed delivery notification of success or failure (above) for ease of reference. This is switched OFF by default.

Attach original documents to success and failure emails

You have the option to include the documents attempted for fax send in their original formats to the emailed success / failure notifications mentioned above. This is switched OFF by default.

Include links to resend fax jobs in delivery notifications

You have the option to include a link within delivery notifications, providing the ability to send a "resend" fax request directly from the notification email. This is switched ON by default.

Add page count to header

You have the option to add the total page count of fax pages to the header of the fax so that receiver can confirm the number of pages received. This is switched OFF by default.

Always use Do Not Call Register when sending faxes

You have an optional setting to "wash" all fax numbers against the Do Not Call Register prior to fax sending. This service is provided at no extra cost. We recommend activating this setting immediately before you send any unsolicited fax, and then deactivate it after. You can keep this setting "ON" permanently if all faxes sent from your account are unsolicited. See fax marketing compliance for more information on your compliance obligations. This is switched OFF by default.

Add a time stamp to the header (displayed in UTC)

You have the option to add the sending date and time of each sent fax to the header of the fax page so that receivers can confirm when the fax sending commenced.

Please note: due to international compliance, the time stamp will display the send date and time in Universal Time (UTC). This is switched OFF by default.

Apply regional dialling rule e.g. automatically convert 1300... numbers to 611300... for Australian customers

GoFax will interpret faxes with a destination number beginning with 1300 or 1800 as a call to a number with a country code of 1 (USA) in the 300 or 800 area code. With this option activated, GoFax will automatically append a 61 to the beginning of every fax to a destination number beginning with 1300 or 1800, so that each fax will be attempted to the Australian 1300/1800 number. This is switched ON by default.

Default regional area code for Australia

You have the option to set a default regional dialling code on your account. When set, GoFax will automatically append an area code to the beginning of every fax to a destination number, where the fax submitted is only 8 digits. For example 02 (NSW/ACT), 03 (VIC/TAS), 07 (QLD), 08 (WA/SA/NT). For example, if you set "03" as your area dialling rule and a fax was submitted as "88889998", GoFax will automatically append "03" as your dialling rule, attempting the fax as "0388889998".

Enable International Send

You have the option to enable and disable fax send to international number on your account. When International Send is enable, fax to international number will be processed. If international send is disable, you will receive a status as Unable to Send - International Send OFF.

Always send the body of an email as the first page

When faxes are attempted via email, GoFax will use the attachments as the fax data. You have the option to also include the body text of the email as the first page/s of the fax to be sent, followed by the pages in the attached files. This is switched OFF by default. This can also be toggled ON by adding a /b command in the email subject line, or forced OFF with the /a command in the email subject line.

Send faxes as high quality

By default, GoFax sends faxes in the standard fax resolution of 200 x 98 dots per square inch. You have the option of sending faxes in high resolution (200 x 196 dots per square inch; also known as “fine” resolution). This is switched OFF by default. If you expect to regularly send faxes with high levels of detail, you can activate the option to send all faxes at high quality.

Important: Sending a fax in high quality adds an additional 25% to the base per-page rate.

Push URL for notifications of fax delivery

Push URL for notifications of fax delivery (known as call-back URL) is an option which allows a URL to be entered and the URL is then automatically triggered on success/failure of the fax attempted. To turn this feature "ON", enter your Push URL and select "Save Settings" below.

Set a permanent fax header document

You have the option to set a standard, static document to be included as the first page/s of every sent fax on your account. You can upload a document (PDF or Word .doc/.docx) and also choose to delete any existing document by clicking on “here”.

Manage your encryption certificates

GoFax supports the encryption of email to fax and fax to email. You can manage your account’s encryption certificates by clicking on “here”. See encryption on fax sending and receiving using email.
