Does this affect numeric‑only Sender IDs?

No. The registration requirement with the ACMA only applies only to alphanumeric Sender IDs. Numeric Sender IDs are not affected.

Is there a cost to register Sender IDs?

The ACMA has indicated there is registration fees initially, although future registration costs have not yet been confirmed.

Can organisations without an ABN register a Sender ID?

GoFax will be unable to support registeration for non‑ABN entities. Contact GoFax for assistance.

 Do SMS Sender IDs need to be a certain format? 

Yes. The ACMA require all alphanumeric SMS Sender IDs to meet certain formatting and criteria to be submitted. Review formatting requirements. 

Are there limitations to words and types of alphanumeric SMS Sender IDs?

Yes. The ACMA require all alphanumeric SMS Sender IDs to meet a valid use case, ensuring the Sender ID can be clearly linked to your brand & organisation. Review valid use case requirements. Additionally, the ACMA will not accept the following restricted terms.  

Can GoFax manage the entire application process? 

GoFax will provide registeration support within our platform for the ACMA SMS Sender ID Reigster however organisations will need to submit their application online within their GoFax account. They will also need to be available to review emails and verification requirements managed by the ACMA. See our registration checklist.
