SMS Sender ID Telco Partner registration checklist
If you are a GoLogic partner and sending SMS messages for your customers who are using alphanumeric SMS Sender IDs, you will need to review how you wish to participate in the Sender ID Register to avoid disruption to your customers. We recommend reviewing this checklist.
How to prepare and register as a Participating Telco:
✅Create an ACMA Assist account
Access to the Sender ID Register is managed through ACMA Assist. If you do not already have an account, refer to the ACMA Assist registration guide to complete the setup process.
✅Submit your participation application
Log in to ACMA Assist and complete the application. Explore ACMA's guides on how to become a participating telco. Applications are manually reviewed by ACMA. Approval is not immediate, and processing times will vary. As part of your application, you will be required to provide:
-
Australian Business Number (ABN)
-
Telco name (as listed on the Australian Business Register)
-
Trading/business name
-
Website address
-
Telco classification (origination, transit and/or termination of Sender IDs)
-
Business contact address
-
Contact details of the authorised representative
-
Evidence supporting your status as a telco, such as:
-
Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman membership
-
Australian Telecommunications Alliance membership
-
Carrier licence
-
Contractual evidence of telecommunications services
-
A formal attestation confirming all information provided is true and accurate
✅Contact GoLogic to enable SMS Sender ID registration for your customers. Once you are approved as a Participating Telco, contact GoLogic to enable SMS Sender ID registration for your customers.
✅Ensure you are meeting requirements to communicate with your customers. ACMA requires specific communication to be sent to inform and prepare your customers. Review your requirements to comply with the Telecommunications (SMS Sender ID Register) Industry Standard 2025
Support your customers in ensuring they:
✅Review SMS Sender ID formatting requirements. Organisations should review all the Sender IDs they plan to register to ensure they meet ACMA's criteria.
✅Ensure SMS Sender IDs meet valid use case requirements. A sender ID must be clearly linked to your organisation. See more on valid use case criteria.
✅Check/update their authorised contacts on the ABR. Sender ID registration requires verification against the Australian Business Register (ABR). Organisations should ensure that:-
Their ABN details are up to date
-
Authorised contacts (public officer, director, or authorised representative) are correctly listed.
✅Set up a myID Digital ID. ACMA Sender ID registration will also require authentication using myID (formerly myGovID). If organisations don’t already have one, we recommend setting up a myID Digital ID for an authorised person in your organisation in advance.
Registration for SMS Sender IDs is coming July 1st 2026! Prepare now to avoid disruption to your customers.
