Alphanumeric SMS Sender ID application status
💡As part of the Australian Communication and Media Authority (ACMA) SMS Sender ID register, from July 1st 2026, all alphanumeric SMS sender IDs must be registered to be used for any outbound SMS messages.

You can review the status of an alphanumeric SMS sender ID application at any time within your GoFax account.
- Log in to your GoFax secure web portal
- Go to the left main menu, select "Send SMS Service" > "Sender IDs".
The status of the alphanumeric SMS Sender ID application will be displayed against each SMS Sender ID.

UNVERIFIED |
The alphanumeric SMS Sender ID requires registration. Proceed to submit your application in GoFax to register with ACMA. |

IN PROGRESS |
The alphanumeric SMS Sender ID application has been submitted and is awaiting GoFax/ ACMA review and approval. |
| REJECTED | The alphanumeric SMS Sender ID has been rejected for use. See valid use case requirements. |
| READY TO USE | The alphanumeric SMS Sender ID has been approved by ACMA and is now ready to use in GoFax. |
| REVOKED | A previously approved alphanumeric SMS Sender ID has been cancelled either by your organisation, GoFax or ACMA. |
How long does an application take to be approved by ACMA?
As part of the SMS Sender ID registration process, GoFax is required to check all applications prior to submitting to ACMA. GoFax will aim to review new applications within 1 business day, during business hours. Once GoFax submit the application to ACMA, their review and approval for SMS Sender IDs may take a few hours or several business days.
