Fax Number Porting - Checklist

Use this checklist before submitting your Porting Authority form to GoFax to reduce the chance of a carrier rejecting your port request.

Before you start

Confirm portability: Ask your current carrier if the number(s) can be ported to GoFax. If the carrier confirms the number is not portable, we cannot proceed.

Service configuration checks

Is your number currently with a virtual/online fax service?

  • If yes, this is a complex port (CAT C) and complex porting fees apply.

NOTE: Please inform us of any CAT C ports when submitting your Port Authority Form to avoid any delays

Does the fax number share a physical line with any of the following: internet connection, EFTPOS, phone, or a security system?

  • If yes, ask your current carrier to dissociate (not disconnect) the fax number from the line.

  • If you need the number active until completion, request a temporary redirection to your GoFax receive service number (your carrier may charge for redirection).

Is the number part of ROTARY / LINE HUNT or a DUET LINE service?

  • If yes, either dissociate the required number from the service or port all numbers in the service to GoFax (fees may apply for numbers you don’t need active).

GoFax account readiness

Do you have a Premium Fax to Email Receive service set up in your GoFax account (with a temporary receive number if required)?
  • If no, log in to the GoFax Secure Portal and add a Premium receive service number before proceeding.
